Louis Germain
Executive Director
Privacy Officer for the organization.
Louis Germain studied literature, marketing and management at Laval University and at TELUQ. After working in the cultural field for ten years, he was the Executive Director of the Association des archivistes du Québec (AAQ) for five years. In addition, he was a member of the Steering Committee on Canada’s Archives and represented the AAQ at the International Council on Archives and the Association internationale des archives francophones.
Louis Germain is the first paid Executive Director of Wikimedia Canada.
His main interests are in organizational communication and collaborative work. He hopes to encourage the participation of Canadian communities to contribute to Wikimedia by promoting exchange, dialogue and collaboration.
Chelsea Chiovelli
Program Officer
A librarian by trade, Chelsea Chiovelli holds both a Master of Library and Information Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Alberta. Following a grad school assignment, Chelsea began contributing to Wikipedia in 2023. While working at the University of Alberta Library, she gained an appreciation for the intersections between libraries, free knowledge, and the Wikimedia Movement that was further compounded after attending Wikimania 2023. In her role as Program Officer, Chelsea hopes to engage institutions and communities to promote free knowledge as well as support Wikimedians across Canada.
Pascale Dangoise
Program Officer
Pascale has a PhD in communication from the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on understanding the persistence of systemic discrimination in liberal and progressive political environments. Before joining Wikimédia Canada, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa’s Digital Humanities Lab, where she worked on the Lesbian and Gay Liberation Canada project and a part-time teacher in Communication. She joined Wikimédia Canada to continue her work in representing marginalized communities and support knowledge mobilisation projects.
Sophie Valade
Communication and Philanthropic Development Officer
Sophie, with a background in communications, has developed her professional career in the higher education and non-profit sectors, both in France and the United States. Through her work with academic libraries, she became familiar with the Wikimedia movement. In June 2023, she joined the Wikimedia Canada team as Communications and Philanthropic Development Officer.
