Wikimedia Canada to receive funding from the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec

The Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec has awarded Wikimedia Canada $25,000 in financial support as part of a call for projects for digital cultural development.

Entitled “Improving the discoverability of francophone literary content using Wikimedia projects”, this project aims to use Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia and Wikidata in particular) to improve the visibility of francophone literary cultural content in Quebec and Canada. With nearly 450 million Wikimedia pages consulted every month from Canada, including 30 million views for the French-language version of Wikipedia, this project benefits from an exceptional platform for highlighting these resources.

Led by Wikimedia Canada, the project is supported by the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF), the Union des écrivaines et des écrivains québécois and the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec.
