Capturing Canada’s Wild Spirit for a Planet Worth Protecting

This last June, Wikimedia Canada invited passionate photographers to share their love for the natural world by submitting their work to the Wiki Loves Earth Canada 2025 contest. The invitation resulted in 432 submissions, judged by 11 different jury members, over two demanding rounds of careful evaluation.

Stunning images rose to the top, including :

The Canadian submissions beautifully reflect Canada’s diverse landscapes-from Alpine dawn to ancient caves and delicate ice formations.

Every image uploaded to Wikimedia Commons isn’t just a photo, it’s a gift to open knowledge and a testament to the fragile beauty of our planet. Through free and shareable visuals, these photos enrich Wikipedia articles and Commons’ database, inspiring countless people around the world to explore, understand and, ultimately, protect our shared natural spaces.

The top 15 Canadian submissions will be forwarded to the International Wiki Loves Earth Contest 2025, where they will join other inspiring photos from around the globe, in a shared effort to celebrate and safeguard our beautiful Earth. Results will be published in December.

To all contributors, thank you for being a part of the Wikisphere, for your creativity and generosity, and for inspiring us to protect our planet.
