Wikimedia Canada offers two scholarships to attend Wikimania in Singapore this August !
Wikimedia Canada is offering two $5,000 scholarships to attend Wikimania Singapore in August. The scholarship is to cover the costs of registration, travel, accommodation and food during the trip. Wikimania Singapore is from August 16 to 19.
This will provide Canadian contributors with the opportunity to strengthen and diversify ties with other participants from around the world. It is also an occasion to promote the excellence of Canadian contributors.
We believe that the new relationships developed during Wikimania will serve to enrich and nurture the Fellows’ engagements and support initiatives in Wikimedia projects back in Canada.
The winning participant is expected to produce two 500-word blog posts that will be shared with the Canadian community: one post about their overall experience and one post about a conference of their choice.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is June 11, 11:59pm Eastern Time.
When selecting applications, we will consider the following criteria:
- Applicant profile: Are you a member of Wikimedia Canada and a Canadian resident?
- History of contributions: Have you previously participated in projects related to Wikimedia Canada?
- Strategic priorities: Are your contributions to Wikimedia projects in line with our strategic development vision?
- Potential Impact: How will your participation in Wikimania Singapore benefit you?
Wikimedia Canada will contact applicants by June 19 to inform them of the outcome of their application.
Wikimedia Canada will not provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
Scholarships cannot be deferred, are non-renewable and are not transferable.
